Robot-Assisted Suit for BMI Rehabilitation
2019
We designed and developed an assistive suit utilizing BMI (Brain-machine Interface) technology to support upper limb rehabilitation for patients with hemiplegia. This suit is equipped with a system that reads brain signals and uses robotic assistance to aid the patient’s arm movements accordingly.
In the product design phase, we focused on creating a design that is easy for patients to wear and allows for natural movement. Afterward, we developed a prototype and conducted tests to evaluate its functionality, comfort, and actual effectiveness in rehabilitation.
This assistive suit aims to accelerate patient recovery by supporting the relearning of fine motor skills, which are often challenging with traditional rehabilitation methods. By leveraging the brain's plasticity, it enables more effective rehabilitation.
